This program awards 60 continuing education credits, towards a 500 hour certification, for yoga teachers registered with Yoga Alliance.

 

What is Yoga Screening?

During your Yoga for Healing training you will learn a ‘Yoga Screening’ technique that teaches you how to observe where a person is tight and restricted in motion in order to suggest simple yoga postures for students that will bring balance, loosen their restrictions and effect a fundamental transformation in their ability to move with less pain. This yoga screening is a process of working with the teacher that takes up to 30 minutes. The teacher demonstrates the simple postures, breathing, and then recommends the number of repetitions to do. The person then performs the postures, walks for 30 seconds and then repeats the yoga screening to establish if there has been any improvement in range of motion, symmetry, strength and balance.

The Yoga for Healing course increases the observation skills of the yoga teachers who learn concrete techniques to incorporate yoga poses, props, along with feedback, to guide people beyond their common patterns of postural restriction. As with all the upper level Shambhava Trainings there is plenty of practice teaching and opportunities to hone teaching skills in pranayama, ayurveda and shambhava meditation and philosophy.
